The Architects Room originated in Wanaka and was started by Bevan Harris, a registered Architect & Wanaka local.
After a 12 year stint crafting the art of architecture in the United Kingdom Bevan has gained valuable international experience whilst working for several well known & highly regarded firms. During this time Bevan has qualified as a registered Architect in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom before going on to establish his own practice. Having now spent over15yrs in the field of Architecture and building Bevan is enjoying his return to his home town of Wanaka.
New Zealand's climate & its many environmental factors play a key role in the way homes & buildings are designed & built. The extremes of both the winter & summer seasons present the Architect & Designer with a smorgasbord of design challenges that are unique to many areas throughout New Zealand.
The Architects Room understands these local environmental factors & how they respond to construction techniques & materials & the manner in which they influence how we live in our homes. The environment combined with sustainable design & energy efficient technologies play an important role in our design process.
Building materials & construction techniques are consistently evolving & the knowledge gained from international exposure gives The Architects Room the ability to confidently investigate alternative materials & construction techniques & combine these with traditional construction methods.
